CHRISTIAN PORN STARS, CHRISTIAN MEL GIBSON, AND CHRISTIAN JEREMY CAMP

What makes someone a Christian? Is it how they act in public? Is it the type of music that they sing? Would someones current (or former) profession rule them out of being a Christian? I'll give you a clue - do any of these have a single thing to do with Jesus? In this post, Joey shares his thoughts on why what we do (or don't do) doesn't have a thing to do with being a Christian.

It’s funny how people identify who the Christians are by stuff other than Jesus.  When we do this, it gets gray as hell.  Let me give you some examples.

1.     When Beyonce sings a gospel song, is she a Christian singer?

2.     When Jeremy Camp plays a “secular cover,” he’s still a Christian singer, right?

3.     You just found out that your plumber was a Christian, which in that case makes him a Christian plumber.

4.     Your buddy struggles with porn and he’s a Christian, making him a Christian porn addict?  #WTF

5.     An ego-driven, mean-spirited, non-Christian coach prayed before a game, so he’s a coach for Jesus!  #damn

6.     Remember this one?  A prolific actor whose life and beliefs were a hair more stable than Lady GaGa’s produced a movie about the passion of Christ and immediately was put on a pedestal up there with Mother Teresa, Rick Warren and the Apostle Paul.

7.     And the latest:  Our podcast guest, Brittni Ruiz accepted Jesus as her savior before He delivered her from the porn industry, so that’d make her… you guessed it, a Christian porn star.

With all of these scenarios, BadChristian would like to ask a favor.  Give us a freaking break.  It’s about time that we remember how jacked up our lives are on Earth.  There are zero heroes who are perfect here on earth.  We killed that guy.  Now, He’s just chilling with his ‘ol man upstairs.

Christians give the Holy Spirit His job and He works everyday, convicting people of sin, changing those He’s adopted as His own, and doing whatever else He chooses to do, including holding back darkness and evil from completely swallowing everything up completely.

So, in the meantime, there will be true Christians who claim to be “Christians who are gay,”  Christian pastors who are being destroyed by porn, Christians who see no wrong in abortions, and many saints who drink and eat too damn much.

On the flip side, there will be many in the church that say “Lord, Lord,” and claim Christianity, who will see Jesus’ face right before they are condemned, because they made their lives about them and never truly handed it over.  There will be hip-hop artists on earth who confuse the hell out of us all by giving a perfect depiction of the gospel in a song right after they talk about a “ho” sucking on something.

More on our jacked up world?  You got it.

This is why Christians killed in the name of Jesus (Crusades).  Some were grossly misguided brothers and sisters in Christ, but I would assume that most were altogether clueless of what a “relationship with Jesus” meant.  Were these some of the people who Jesus said, “I never knew you” to?

This is why pastors fall into sexual sin.

This is why everyone in the South says that they’re Christians.

That’s why the possibility is out there for a porn star to be a Christian, as we learned in our last interview with Brittni Ruiz.

The world is dirty and falling apart.

Jesus is the only one that can be “black and white” while judging others’ hearts.  He’s the only one who knows beyond a shadow of a doubt when someone has been redeemed and recreated.

Until heaven, we can’t be completely sure of anyone’s standing before God.  As Christians, we need to learn our place.

There’s a place and time for judging INSIDE the church when it is done through love.

For the most part though, we better resort to doing our job by loving people.  God is love.  I know you’ve heard about that, right?

Next week, to continue this discussion, we are re-releasing one of our most popular posts that started the whole BadChristian movement, written by @Tobytobyjoyjoy, called “We Don’t Want to be Good Christians.” Stay tuned!
